Web Accessibility and Usabilty Standardshave become a global initiative aimed at making the Internet available to all users  regardless of any physical or technological disadvantage. The initiative takes the form of a set of standards that when followed will make the use of compliant websites easier for those with disabilities.

Adherence to these Standards has been adopted by many countries, including the whole of the EEC, which has now introduced legislation which mandates Websites must be accessible.
